What to know about choosing a carpet color

Choosing color can sometimes be the most overwhelming part of buying carpet flooring. This is because there are so many choices! 

First, look at samples in your own home

Most mills provide samples and ask your flooring company if you can take them home so you can examine them in your surroundings. However, colors vary according to lighting, and even a lightbox in the store won't look the same.

Hues also vary when next to another color, such as upholstery.

Look at them at different times of the day. For example, examine carpet flooring samples in the morning when there's abundant natural light, then again at dusk when light decreases. Also, view them when it's dark, and the only source is artificial light. 

Blue is the new neutral, and other color news 

Designers love blue carpet flooring because it's so easy to work with. It adds color while not overwhelming the space. Check out "Kid Crossing" by Shaw Industries!

Neutral, earthy tones will always be popular. They, too, are easy to work with. You can always layer it with an area rug if you want more color.
